Clean Your Pop-Up Camper Efficiently

Pop-up campers are a convenient way to go camping with your family. You have a comfortable place to sleep and protect yourself from the elements. However, over time, dust and dirt are going to accumulate on your pop-up camper. Storing a wet canvas can also lead to mold and mildew. Visit us in Roseville, California at S.C.A.T.T. Recreation because we have a great selection of campers, and we serve Rocklin and Citrus Heights, California.

PREPARATION

Your owner’s manual should have instructions on how to safely clean your canvas. There are a few cleaning products that are safe enough to use on your canvas. It is important to find out what kind of model you have so you can choose the appropriate cleaning products.

Harsh cleaning products may end up staining or destroying your canvas. You want to avoid that as it may be costly to repair and replace a damaged canvas. Oxygen cleaners are a great way to clean fabric in an environmentally friendly way.

All you really need to clean up your pop-up camper is a couple of sponges, a scrub brush, a broom, a bucket, and a hose that has access to clean water. You want to clean your camper on a concrete surface. This stops loose dirt from getting into the grass.

THE CLEANING PROCESS

When cleaning your pop-up camper, you first want to use a broom to clear off the dirt that has accumulated on the camper. Sweeping the dirt off the camper will remove the larger chunks of debris so you can see the parts of the canvas that have grime.

The next part of the cleaning process requires you to use your two sponges. One sponge should be used with the cleaner to remove dirt and grime from the camper. The other sponge needs to be dipped in water and used to rinse off the cleaning product.

Use your soft bristle scrub brush for areas that have stubborn stains. Start cleaning from the inside of the camper and work your way outside. When cleaning the outside of your camper, use the hose as you can check for leaks. If you notice the water is dripping inside after you rinse the exterior, you may need to waterproof your camper.

REMOVE MIDEW

Leaving your camper outside for too long or storing it incorrectly can cause mildew to grow on your camper. This can cause your camper to smell bad and destroy your canvas. If you notice that mold is growing on your camper, it is important to address the issue immediately.

Vinegar is a much less abrasive cleaning product than bleach. Try using one part vinegar with two parts water to get rid of the mildew. You may also want to use one part rubbing alcohol with one part water. Both of these mixtures are strong enough to kill mold spores without destroying the canvas. For antifungal properties, you can add a few teaspoons of tea tree oil to water and apply the mixture to the canvas.

Cleaning your pop-up camper does not have to be difficult. With the right cleaning products and tools, you can get it done pretty quickly. If you notice any mold or mildew, you can use a vinegar mixture or a rubbing alcohol mixture to remove them.
