Be realistic about what you need to bring with you on your next camping trip or cross-country adventure. Pack what you plan on using and try to avoid unnecessary extras.
DO NOT TOW A VEHICLE
Just like packing too much on your motorhome can use more fuel, towing a vehicle can have a similar effect. The weight of a vehicle pulled behind your RV can make you go through a lot more gas. Toys like ATVs and UTVs add a lot of weight to your load. Consider unique options for having fun at your intended destination. For example, you can rent bicycles at your RV campground instead. While a personal vehicle can be a perk when you want to see local sights, it might cut into your budget too much.
CHECK TIRE PRESSURE
Neglecting to keep your tires at the recommended tire pressure can cause you to use gas more quickly. Tires that are under-inflated experience more friction on the road and burn up a lot more fuel. Go by the tire pressure shown in your owner’s manual.
